Quite monumental return of Dana Schutz at Chelsea stronghold. Huge paintings paired with the sculpture. Fairy tale like subjects meet with impasto and totally opaque, somewhat overlabored, lacking translucent wealth of painterly surface and technical virtuoso effects paintings. Everything that is Dana Schutz was is still present, but I loved her earlier work better. Maybe I have to adapt to new ones, but they appeared to slightly lose painterly soul. Composition 9 out of 10, color 5 out of 10, mystery 8 out of 10, novelty 5 out of 10. Thank you for great ambition and experience.
